Bad JuJu

We made it to Istanbul safe, but def. not sound...

Yesterday Jimmy and I basically had a nervous breakdown over the horrendous luck we encountered in getting here. If you wanted to take a look at some bickering, sweaty, exhausted, seriously dejected beings, we were your poster-people.

Virtually every leg of our trip here was absolute hell. Airline not seating us next to eachother, check. Sitting on tarmac while flight delayed, check. Watching Big Miracle starring Drew Barrymore, check. Sprinting through a gigantic German airport from one side to the complete opposite side for 20 minutes yelling and blaming one another for buying a discount ticket from Orbitz, to barely catch connecting flight due to previously said flight delay, check. Constipation from flight food, eh...check. Having a near heart attack upon boarding rickety Turkish plane clearly ready for the scrapyard with pink and turquoise pleather seats and curtains, blasting crazy far-east music over the loudspeakers, check. Back siezing up from recent herniated discs injury, check. Over 2 hours to get through Visa & passport lines only to discover your luggage has been lost, CHECK!!!

In the end, that is the awesomely ugly beauty of travel. It tests your limits. Shit doesn't go as planned most of the time but it is all worth it when you finally get that bit of luck back on your side and walk out of the airport to find the driver you had hired was actually still standing there with your name on a sign, waiting HOURS for you, and you sink your tired booty into his car and all you can do is laugh and say WTF just happened, look out the window and pop into a gorgeous, unique city like Istanbul. We are gonna have some serious fun here, I can tell already.
